Greenhouse Mascot

The greenhouse was really starting to collect a lot of junk, so today I gave it a good clear out. And just as I was finishing I saw something out of the corner of my eye, this little guy!

He was so cute! I put some damp soil in a pot for him and left him be, but I'm kind of hoping he stays and takes care of the greenhouse spiders for me.

Since my last update I've had a baby boy, and now I'm excited as he grows to get the garden back to how I want it and for the next growing season. I've already got next year's seeds and know where everything is going, but here's some photos of the flowers from the garden from this year.

As much as I love the vegetable growing, this year is the first year I'm trying to grow flowers too. My most successful one is a hydrangea I planted in my front garden, and I loved it so much decided I wanted one in the back garden too.

Hopefully you can see it hidden in the corner! It's pretty small at the moment but I'm hoping it'll eventually get bigger and fill that area with some lovely blue and pink blooms.

This is what my raised beds are looking like at the moment - pretty full! Everything is growing amazing and I'm really happy to have them so handy in the garden. Maybe one day I'll go back to allotment gardening, but for now concentrating on my own small area has been so much fun.

The Greenhouse

I had a Greenhouse on my allotment, but as I wasn't down very often things in it never done well. Having one in my garden now is great, I feel like things are growing much better as I can just pop out if I need to. I think greenhouse growing might be my favourite of everything I do in the garden. I think because come rain or shine I can be out in it, and there's nothing better than being under the glass with just the noise of rain to keep you company.

My Greenhouse is 8x8ft, and I've definitely underestimated the size this first year with it. I've not planted anywhere near enough! It is currently housing; potatoes, peas, spinach, tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, sunflowers, lettuce and strawberries. Next year's plans need to be a lot better organised so I can fill it, all the empty space is making me sad.

Here's some of what I'm growing.

My first peas!

I don't actually like strawberries (or any kind of berries for that matter), but my husband and daughter will hopefully approve.

Cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers which I need to put in their final resting place, although I've run out of grow bags.

My New Garden

At the end of 2016, I traded in Plot 1- my little Lottie - for my own little Lottie, a human I grew name Charlotte. And who'd have thought it, it's hard work! I just didn't have the time or energy to keep up with the allotment anymore. But when I got it, we lived in a flat with no garden and I craved the outside space. So when we moved it also felt wrong to spend all my time down there and neglect our new garden.

So this spring we decided to do some work so that our own little space was useable. I got a Greenhouse from Gumtree, and we got a company in to install raised beds into a small hill that was useless before (we could never have done a good a job on our own), and now we're ready to go!
